WhatsApp Is Going To Introduce New Features In 2020

The famous messaging app, WhatsApp is introducing four very interesting features in 2020 to revolutionize the chat app for its users. One of them is the much anticipated dark mode feature.

The Facebook-owned chat-app is a popular messaging app with nearly 1.5 billion users. Although it is not confirmed yet, but there are some clues in beta versions of the software.

Following are the new features that we can expect from WhatsApp in 2020.

Dark Mode

There are some clues that WhatsApp is apparently considering to construct two new possible looks – one in greyscale, and another in pitch-blacks. The pitch-black hues will act as a battery-saver for smartphones users flaunting OLED touchscreens, while the greyscale will help those people who want to comfort their eyes during late-night usage of the chat app. According to WaBetaInfo, the dark theme is ready for the Android version of WhatsApp.

Self-Destructing Messages

Remember Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible movies where he receives self-destructed messages. Yes, you are right. WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will let the user set a timer on the texts, so that any text message, photo, video evaporates after certain time that the user decided. It may be one hour, one day, one week, one month or even one year.

Adverts Incoming

Yes, some advertisement time. The advertisements will be played during slides on WhatsApp Statuses. It will be like the way adverts appear on other Facebook platforms, including Instagram. WaBetaInfo describes the ads as "status advertisements".

Shopping Brochures

This is an interesting feature as WhatsApp will introduce shopping catalogs to its WhatsApp Business app. The software is aimed to help clients communicate with businesses by using the same tools as the normal chat app which is available worldwide.

There is also speculation that there will be another feature that WhatsApp will introduce.

Reverse Search Tool

This WhatsApp tool will help users to find the original image with reference of its real sender. The images will be uploaded on Google search through in-app browser which will show users the original images.

Swvl, An App-Based Bus Hailing Service Launched In Karachi

The Egyptian firm expands its operations further in Pakistan and launched its services in metropolitan city Karachi. 

Swvl is the first of its kind app-based bus hailing innovator, announced an investment of $25 million in Pakistan by mobilizing half a million Pakistanis by 2023. The investment plan will create around ten thousand jobs a year. 

After the successful launch in Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the new bus service expands its services for another big city, Karachi. At the moment, the country's largest city has the meager infrastructure and deteriorating public service facilities from the government. So, the Swvl will be welcomed by Karachiites as it will provide comfortable and safe transport at an affordable price. 

The Swvl is also planning to start an incubator to fund pre-seed startups to kickstart a healthy tech ecosystem in Pakistan. Moreover, the company plans to open an offshore support and engineering office in Pakistan. 

The bus-hailing service, Swvl claims to be a convenient, reliable and affordable transport solution with an aim to revolutionize people's lifestyles including transportation by running busses on fixed routes that users can book seats in through the Swvl app.   

Swvl provides an air-conditioned top-notch bus hailing service for just Rs20 through its app which uses the person’s location and destination to determine the shortest possible trip time based on the nearest bus stop. 

The Swvl app is now available for both the android and ios app users. SWVL also aims to give women a safe and comfortable ride and enable women to reclaim public space by mobilizing them through safe and sound travel options.

Mostafa Kandil,  the founder of Swvl said, "We are also planning to start an incubator to fund pre-seed startups to kickstart a healthy tech ecosystem in Pakistan. Moreover, the company plans to open an offshore support and engineering office in Pakistan.”  

“Currently we have introduced 13- and 22-seater vans and Coasters but it doesn’t end here. The buses and vehicles would grow gradually as well as their capacity. We have close to 100 routes in Karachi alone,” said Shahzeb Memon of Swvl Pakistan.

FBR Launched A Simplified Version Of Tax Asaan App

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) launched a broad new version of its ‘Tax Asaan’ mobile app for filing of income tax returns for salaried and non-salaried class along with a facility of an E-registration for the new taxpayers.

The application “Tax Asaan” has been operational since Sept 16; however, its scope is limited to the salary income person. The fresh version will now cover all incomes and assets of individuals irrespective of salaried and non-individuals.

According to FBR sources, the new version of Tax Asaan mobile app has received nearly 50,000 salary returns digitally and thousands of downloads of the app, within 24 days of its launch which indicates that now the latest version is easy for public use.

The newest version of Tax Asaan mobile app can be downloaded on Google’s official Android operating system and on Apple’s iOS mobile operating system.

After the registration, the app procedure will generate a user name and password. An individual can login on the home page of the mobile app and proceed step by step without any disruption. To facilitate the tax prayer, there is also a choice of generating new wealth statement through Tax Asaan app.

PIA Launched Mobile App To Boost Facilities For Its Customers

PIA Launched App and Web Check-In

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has launched the mobile application and online check-in facility to help and get feedback from for its passengers to improve the standard of its airline services.

The flyers will be able to book their tickets online, check-in through PIA’s official website or mobile app prior to arrival at the airport. After all the smooth progress through their ticketing, check-in, passengers would be allowed to rate PIA services. Passengers can web check-in 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure and up to 03 hours before the flight departure time.

This new launch of the Digital Transformation Programe is expected to facilitate PIA passengers by offering online and self-service know-hows. The mobile app will not only help PIA clients, but also the national flag carrier to increase its sales.

The newly launched online check-in facility is initially available for only domestic flights between Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. However, it will soon be effected on all other domestic and international flights.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, held at a local hotel in Karachi, acting PIA CEO Nayar Hayat said, “Online check-in through the website and mobile apps is a step forward in our quest to improve passenger experience with PIA and we will continue to bring further improvements in order to facilitate and please our passengers”.
