Pakistan Breaks Guinness World Record For The Largest Cookie Mosaic

.

To mark the celebrations of Pakistan’s 70 years of independence, the leading food brand of the country, Peek Freans Sooper, a marque of English Biscuit manufacturers, came up with a unique idea of breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest cookie mosaic.

The Peek Freans Sooper’s team broke the record with a huge Pakistani flag, made up of 150,000 plus cookies in white and green colour, and measuring around 226.51 m2 (2,438.15 ft2). The cookie mosaic that was held in Islamabad, was completed in 6.5 hours on the day of independence, August 14.

Dr. Zeelaf Munir, Managing Director and CEO, EBM and the team with the Record-breaking Cookie Mosaic
The most significant aspect of this world record was that after the successful completion of flag mosaic for Guinness world record, all of the cookies used were distributed in custom built packages to different charities across Pakistan. The cookies were prepared as per the hygienic rules, and monitored by food inspectors all the time during flag mosaic preparations. The participants used hand-sanitizers, hair, shoe mitts, and gloves just to ensure each cookie remains clean and germ-free for consumption.

All the members of this remarkable event, including cricketers Shoaib Akhtar, Younus Khan, showbiz celebrities Adnan Siddiqui, Hareem Farooq and other well-known Pakistanis, took part in it with immense passion and excitement. They placed each cookie side by side to create the largest cookie mosaic. Their efforts finally paid off as soon as Guinness World Records’ team verified the challenge of breaking the world record as an achievement.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Zeelaf Munir, EBM Managing Director and CEO, said, “We are a nation that is continuously rebuilding, reshaping and pushing forward – no matter what the odds. Our campaign, ‘Sooper Hai Pakistan’ seeks to highlight this national positivity by disseminating content that is the exact opposite of what the popular media continues to cover.”

Ayesha Janjua, EBM Head of Marketing said, ‘Pakistanis are brimming with raw talent; surpassing the world’s expectations on each and every pivotal moment and the participation of EBM sales and marketing team in this historic event demonstrates the true spirit of every Pakistani.”

Congratulations to Pakistan and Peek Freans Sooper who made the history by bringing home a Guinness World Records title on the day of the country's 70th Independence.

Thank you Peek Freans for turning nation's Azaadi celebrations more extraordinary and memorable. Indeed Sooper Hai Pakistan!

Ufone Salutes Unsung Heroes

.

To acknowledge the services of the unsung heroes that are actively reshaping the society through their utmost efforts for humanity, Ufone arranged a bloggers’meetup. Taking its primary message forward, ‘It’s all about U’, the company extends its support to consumers and people around, thus making them the core focus so as to serve them right.

Ufone makes conscious efforts in recognising and highlighting people who are an outstanding role model and a personification of the very message ‘It is all about U’.  These are the people who, despite their challenges, have risen above and beyond them and made it big in life. These are the role models who people will look up to as an inspiration as their achievements send out a message that inspires others to do good in their own capacity.

Four of these compassionate individuals were invited to share their inspirational stories and discuss about their endeavours in order to instill a higher sense of benevolence in people around. These included Muhammad Mohsin Ali, Shamim Akhtar, Saqib Ali Kazmi, and Sabia Abbat. Heroes in their respective areas, Ufone scouted them and picked them up to portray them as models of excellence to the society, so as to trigger the self-belief and inspiration needed to excel in life. Through TVCs and a comprehensive 360 degree campaign, the company has highlighted the life stories of these individuals, their struggles and their unparalleled achievements to inspire the nation and instill in them the belief that nothing is beyond their reach, provided they have the determination to make their dream come true.

Shamim Akhtar one of these heroes, at 53 is Pakistan’s first female driver; she is one such example who decided to go against all odds to make both ends meet for her family and adapted to a role skewed toward gender based obstacles. She attributes her success to the Islamabad Traffic Police Training course that paved the way for her to show her the possibilities of being able to drive heavy vehicles as she had gained an excellent road sense and courage to defy all stereotypes associated with driving vehicles. Her untiring efforts later helped her gain a public service vehicle license, making her the first Pakistani woman licensed to drive trailers, tractors and trucks.

Similarly, Muhammad Mohsin, son of a bread maker and resident of Hafizabad scored 688 points in his B.A exams through his uncanny efforts; thereby topping the list in B.A/B.Sc exams held by the Punjab University and made waves nationwide. Not being able to manage his college dues, he still had his motivation geared towards his goal of completing his graduation and therefore appeared for exams as a private candidate. Mohsin continued his quest for education while assisting his father to support his family and ensured that financial obstacles do not become the reason for a break in his education.

Sabia Abbat, on the other hand, is a 25 year old cyclist hailing from the village of Haripur and has also been handpicked by Ufone to brace its campaign. Within two years of her enthusiastic endeavors for sports, she became the national champion in Lahore; prior to this, she had been representing her college in regional events. She is now a professional cyclist and holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education.

Another flourishing example is of Saqib Ali Kazmi, an inspiring young entrepreneur and social worker from Karachi. From education to health, Kazmi works in the development sector to help the underprivileged of the society however he can. He started a project called “Mera Karachi Meri Zimmedari”. The name being self-explanatory focused on the role of each individual towards the society instead of relying on the politicians or ruling elites to facilitate people. Taking a leap forward, he worked in a small school and later with the help of his friends identified two areas of development in Interior Sindh, that is, water and education. To resolve the water crisis in the area, Saqib and his friends installed 320 hand pumps in different areas of Interior Sindh, particularly Gharo and Thatta. Saqib and the team also manage an educational venture in a village in Gharo. They provide books, free education, uniform and linguistic training to children to allow them to grow and prosper as well as make a difference.

As part of Ufone’s brand philosophy, it also supported people and organisations not generally known to the public but who all have been doing extra ordinary work for the betterment of the society. These were small scale philanthropic initiatives started by individuals on a personal basis who later went an extra mile, thus impacting their surroundings magnanimously. These include Operation Eid Child, Deewar-e-Mehrbani, and Khaana Ghar. All 3 initiatives have been conceived and are conducted by individuals in their personal capacities. These are being highlighted by Ufone to inspire similar ventures and to invite participation in the on-going activities. Ufone showcased these initiatives through a large electronic media campaign to share the message of goodness with all Pakistanis.

Parveen Saeed of Khana Ghar also graced the event with her presence and explained how she was encouraged to pursue her mission of feeding the underprivileged when she heard of a mother having killed her two children as she was unable to feed them.

The discussion by these unsung heroes was followed by an interactive session with the bloggers whose keen interest in their endeavours revealed many more unsung heroes in the making!

Independence Day Celebrations At Dolmen Malls

.

Dolmen Mall, Pakistan’s first international standard mall, is famous for being at the forefront of every major national celebration. With every event, they have continued to raise the bar when it comes to family entertainment and shopping in Karachi.

As our Independence Day approaches, we see the city changing itself to represent the colours of Pakistan, and Dolmen did not stay behind in giving its visitors a flavour of patriotism. This year, their theme, ‘Dolmen loves Pakistan’, was weaved around the concept of Hamari Pehchan aimed at giving people a chance to celebrate Pakistan’s identity. Spanning across all three malls, namely Dolmen Mall Clifton, Dolman Mall Tariq Road and Dolmen Mall Hyderi, the event kicked off on 12th of August 2016.

Anum Nadeem, Marketing Head of the Dolmen Group stated.
“Living in a time where there is so much uncertainty and negativity surrounding our identity as a nation, we wanted to celebrate the achievements and entertainment aspects of Pakistan which we are known for. These things are relatable to the older as well as the younger generation of this country and they need to be celebrated. This is what makes us proud as Pakistanis.”

A weekend worth of activities were executed in all its patriotic glamour and glory. For this, the mall was draped in shades of greens and whites. The walkways saw magnificent replicas of the country’s monuments. From live murals of national heroes to specially dressed guards standing and saluting the customers, the entire mall gave off 14th August vibes.

The main atrium was designed to take the mall-goers on a photographic journey through Pakistan and its rich culture. Adding to the desi feel, a dhaaba was set up by Chai Wala offering fresh parathas and chai for all those craving for a cup of tea, Pakistan’s undisputed favourite drink. Folk music and a special Azadi Bazaar selling flags, badges, and other patriotic merchandise set the right mood to the three-day event.

To mark the eve of Independence Day, a grandiose performance by Sounds of Kolachi dazzled the audience. The soulful music melted into the beautiful notes of our National Anthem at precisely 12 AM, amidst a shower of confetti while the guards raised the flag and saluted.

Visitors at Dolmen Mall Tariq Road were enthralled to find Noori performing live and did not shy away from fully enjoying patriotic beats.

On the digital front, an instagram competition was hosted, allowing amateur photographers to showcase their talent. Top three photographs were selected and awarded with prizes. More prizes awaited all those who visited Dolmen wearing green. Shoppers and visitors were, thus, pleasantly surprised at various occasions.

For Pakistan, the month of August is a reminder of the great struggle for an independent country where everyone can live freely in harmony and peace. The true freedom can only be celebrated when individuals connect their own right of freedom with the spirit of national freedom.

This importance of freedom is beautifully highlighted in Peek Freans Sooper's newly launched ‘Sooper Hai Azadi’ campaign. To celebrate the occasion of Independence Day, the new tvc has been aimed to signify the “Rhythm of Freedom”. The theme shows the joy and happiness of freedom that a nation can enjoy only after having independence and liberty.

Here is the video of Rhythms of Freedom:

Rhythms of Azadi #SooperHaiAzadi

The Rhythm of Freedom depicts a variety of beautiful sounds, for example rain drops, door, flute, typewriter, anklets etc. It explains that these sounds exemplify the contribution of all individuals (including both male and female) for the prosperity of their country.

The back ground (instrumental) music of a famous national song “Main Bhi Pakistan Hoon, Tu bhi Pakistan hai” adds extra charm to the overall idea of the campaign. It signals the significance of a mutual hardship for the benefit of the nation and country.

From the left: Shahzain Munir (Business Development Head, EBM), Adnan Ali Bajwa (Brand Manager, Peek Freans Sooper, Saadia Naveed (Deputy Managing Director, EBM), Jahangir Khan, Shehzad Roy, Jibran Nasir.

At the launch event of SooperHaiAzadi campaign, Adnan Bajawa, Brand Manager Peek Freans Sooper, the flagship brand of English Biscuit Manufacturers (Pvt.) Limited, stated;

“In the “Sooper Hai Azadi” campaign, we have acknowledged everyday sounds people make. we have combined them to produce an instrumental as a dedication to Pakistan’s workforce, who contribute to the development of this country. This campaign is also a reminder of the greatest thing this country has given us, which is Azadi. It is because of Azadi that we love what we do, because we have the freedom to choose for ourselves.”

During panel discussion, panelists Jahangir Khan, Shehzad Roy, Jibran Nasir and Saba Gul expressed their own experiences in the light of individual freedom. The discussion also paid tribute to unsung heroes who contributed in the success and were a motivational force behind panelists’ professional lives.

Squash legend Jahangir Khan told the audience about his personal struggle despite health issues and how his family and friends motivated him to achieve a status of international icon which was his deceased brother’s dream. For him. the sensation of accomplishment after struggling for any particular goal is unmatched. This is true Freedom for the legend who has a record of winning 555 consecutive matches.

Social worker and humanitarian Shahzad Roy shared his story and inspiration that compelled him to change his path from popular music to message oriented songs and social work. For him, loving your country is incomparable. Looking at flaws negatively is not an answer, instead do something good for your country while remaining in your capacity.

Shahzad Roy with Journalist Khursheed Hyder

Lawyer and social activist Jibran Nasir talked about the importance of basic human rights, the right of having education, basic necessities of life and freedom of speech. Without the liberty of having basic rights, the meaning and essence of freedom is hollow.

Popinjay owner and entrepreneur Saba Gul shared her personal preference to return to Pakistan and starting a business to promote Pakistan’s art in international market. her brand is helping women to work from their home and earn money by selling their art and craft.
