Book Review - Pokemon Ki Duniya Is A Captivating Novel

.

A couple of weeks back I purchased an Urdu novel Pokemon Ki Dunya by  Musharraf Alam Zauqi from the Sareer Publications website. My order delivered on time and I started reading my novel.

The theme of the Urdu novel Pokemon ki Duniya is about the new cyber age and its influence upon our young generation. The novel beautifully tells us that how new cyber tools are being used to create a PR, advertisement campaigns, how key opinion leaders influence people, junk food, globalization, and monopolies of big businesses are changing societies throughout the world.

The real-life humans are living like sketched characters or cartoons. The novel is all about systemic outside interference and hindrances. The story tells us how children’s behavior is affected due to exposure to overly used internet. Online gaming is altering their attitude towards real-life.

Musharraf Alam Zauqi is a well-known Indian novelist, a fiction writer who has also gained popularity in Pakistan. His approach towards new topics is unique. He is highlighting the issues regarding changing traditions, social behavior and the influence of the internet on young generations.

The quality of the book is fine as it has a catchy cover, nice thick pages and perfectly fixed with hardcover.

I would recommend this novel to all of you.

The colourful painting work displayed at park walls rejoices the spirit of patriotism, and depicts the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan. Celebrating the cultural diversity of its people and yet unified under the nation’s flag is the main underlying theme. It marvelously removed some of the wall chalking and political negativity spread on city walls.

Karachi's Wall Art Shows Spirit Of Meri Shaan Mera Pakistan

.
Karachi Walls Showing Meri Shaan Mera Pakistan

There is an urgent need to wipe out all indecent wall chalking in Karachi. Let me tell you why it is important to remove all the filthy messages for example the political hatred, obnoxious magical cures of illiterate Baba and other inappropriate notes, because clean city walls are the reflection of a civilized society. The neat and tidy walls express public interest in owning and maintaining the city and country.

Last year, EFU Insurance, under the guidance of Commissioner Karachi, Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Khan, and his team of Commissioner Karachi Division, decided to come forward and start a corporate social responsibility campaign "Meri Shaan Mera Pakistan" to reclaim the public spaces by cleaning the dirty wall chalking and painting a positive image of Pakistan’s culture through extravagant art work.

The creative idea of EFU Life Insurance’s CSR was to highlight country’s rich cultural heritage by creating huge paintings of national events, festivals, monuments and portraits of its legends on city walls.

The campaign successfully adorned the walls at Ayesha Manzil and National Coaching Centre with huge paintings displaying the diversity of cultures within a nation. In total, a large portion approx. 5000 sq.ft was covered with colourful images during this campaign.

EFU Life, in collaboration with Abdoz Arts, has now taken another step in order to further beautify Karachi. Its new project is the wall at Aga Khan Park, Garden, opposite Ismaili Jamaat-Khana covering a space of over 7000 sq. ft. The painting work in progress has already attracted citizens who are excited to see the completed version of beautifully painted artworks.

To encourage citizens in taking part in it and showing their passion for Pakistan, EFU Life announced an art contest as well. Karachiites were asked to submit their original art works and have a chance to get their paintings featured on city walls. The winner was appreciated with a smartphone.

The Caged Bird......

.
Maya Angelou. Photo WEB

Today I want to share with all you a poem by an American author, poet, civil rights activist and a super inspirational person for millions of people around the world, I am talking about Maya Angelou.

Angelou is famous for her award-winning books and poetry. She is also the first black woman who entered the dazzling world of Hollywood as director, producer and writer. She even starred in different productions for film, TV and stage.

Photo: WEB

Here is her lovely poem named "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings"

The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill for the caged bird
sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird

sings of freedom.

I hope you enjoyed reading this beautiful poetry =)
