No 'Honour' In Honour Killings Says Prime Minister

Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif praised the initiative taken by Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy's Oscar nominated documentary against honour killing - 'A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness."


“Islam discourages violence against women, and there is no honour in honour killings ” said the premier at the screening of the documentary at the Prime Minister House.

The Prime Minister further added; “She (Sharmeen Obaid) has drawn our attention to the dark side of societal behaviour; something about some of us choose to remain uninformed,”

Director and producer Chinoy's documentary, A Girl in the River: The price of forgiveness, is a story of a rare survivor (a girl) who falls in love. However, she was shot and thrown in river by her father for her mistake of marrying a man of her own choice. The brave girl survives to tell the tale.

As a filmmaker, Chinoy won an Academy Award for her documentary Saving Face (2012) and two Emmy Awards for her documentaries Pakistan's Taliban Generation (2010) and Saving Face (2012).

Today I want to share with all you a poem by an American author, poet, civil rights activist and a super inspirational person for millions of people around the world, I am talking about Maya Angelou.

Angelou is famous for her award-winning books and poetry. She is also the first black woman who entered the dazzling world of Hollywood as director, producer and writer. She even starred in different productions for film, TV and stage.

The free bird leaps

on the back of the wind

and floats downstream

till the current ends

and dips his wings

in the orange sun rays

and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks

so he opens his throat to sing.

The fashions at the Grammy Awards are well known for some extra ordinary extravagance specifically stars’ dresses, jewelry, shoes, bags and makeup.

My Verdict:

It provided a long lasting moisturization to my skin. I especially love the silky soft touch it gave to my skin. The most important thing about  ELMORE Soft Skin Hydrate lotion is that I felt nothing greasy, it truly nourishes the skin all day long still without a sign of any greasiness.

If you are living in an area with too much dryness in the atmosphere, apply it two to three times a day for the best results or after every shower.

Review - Essence I Heart NUDE Eyeshadow

Hello everyone.  I was in search of an eye shadow that can be used for multiple purposes. My search ended when I found Essence I Heart NUDE Eye shadow shades in a local mall. I selected 03 Creme Brulee tone. In this post I will share my experience with you all.

First let's see what the product claims;

The Brand Claims:

This eye shadow is from the Limited Edition I <3 Nude range. The brand claims that it is a baked eye shadow with a Satin Smooth texture for a luminous long lasting eye makeup. It comes in a 1.8 grams plastic packaging with a transparent lid.

My Verdict:

Essence I Heart NUDE 03 Creme Brulee is a very light in shade with shimmer hint. First, I tried it over a coat of eye primer. The result was fabulous. It blended well and gives a super smooth coverage with fine pigmentation.

For the second time, I wore it directly without any use of eye primer. Again the result was amazing. It was very easy to apply it on eyelid. It didn't stick in pigmented patches on the skin. In fact, its high satin texture blended comfortably to give a good little shimmery look.

Essence I Heart NUDE 03 Creme Brulee is really a long lasting eye shadow as it stayed excellently for 4 to 6 hours. I would recommend it for its best results.

The most amazing thing about Essence I Heart NUDE 03 Creme Brulee is that you can use it as a neutral eye shadow as well as for the highlight purpose. It is available in affordable price.

A Tribute To Fatima Surayya Bajia

With the sad demise of Fatima Surayya Bajia, a golden era of Pakistan's literary programs, dramas and Urdu literature has come to an end. Bajia was not only a great Urdu novelist but also a playwright and drama writer of high caliber who mesmerized her readers and viewers with outstanding work.

Born in Hyderabad, India, on September 1, 1930, Bajia received numerous awards including Pride of Performance and Hilal-e-Imtiaz. She was also awarded Japan's highest civil award for her literary accomplishments. 

Although she never attended any school, but her commitment and accomplishments made her an international success and a literary celebrity.  

Her famous works include drama Shama, Afshaan, Aroosa, Ana, Babar, Sassi Punno, etc. She was associated with PTV and Pakistan Radio for a long time. 

Her demise is a great lost for all who loves to read Urdu literature. Her writings introduced many new aspects for the new Urdu writers. She also inducted new concepts in her TV dramas specifically for leading lady roles.  

Bajia's brother Anwar Maqsood

Bajia passed away on February 10, 2016 in Karachi, after a prolong illness. She left behind a legacy of her works and famous siblings Anwar Maqsood, Zehra Nigah and Zubaida Tariq.

Recipe - Fried Fish With Rice

 Almost everyone loves to eat fish based dishes. It may be the simple curry or tempura pieces or spicy fried fillets, fish is essential part of food for many of us. 

In our home, we usually like to cook fish with our own home made "Masala" (spice mixture). However, for this recipe me and my sister decided to try some locally available packet masala.

From wide range of packets, we selected "Shan Fried Fish". Shan's spice mixture is available in 50 gm packaging, it is enough for 750 gm to 1 kg fish. We mostly like to have boneless fish dishes. Hence, for this recipe we used boneless fish fillets. You can use boneless pieces or whatever you want.

Recipe:

We followed the recipe instructions step by step printed on the packet. The easy steps are as follows:

Add 3 tbsp lemon juice in raw fish and leave it for 10 minutes then rinse it with tap water and pat dry each fish piece with kitchen tissue.

Mix garlic paste, Shan fried fish masala and oil in fish as per packet instructions.

Leave marinated fish for 2 hours.

For Batter:

Take 1 cup gram flour (baisan) in a bowl, add 1 egg in it and mix.

Add water in above mixture to make smooth - thin paste. 

Dip marinated fish in this batter and deep fry till golden color.


We served this delicious crispy fried fish with Chickpea Pulao. It was very yummy with a totally different taste. Shan spice mixture is balanced in its ingredients and enhanced the flavor of fish fillets.

Review - Makeup Revolution London Nail Polish

Hello everyone, I recently bought some new shades of Makeup Revolution London nail polish. There is a variety of beautiful bright to natural colors available in affordable price. I selected 'Flawless', 'Take Me', 'Heaven's Above', and 'Make Me'.

In my today's post I will review the shade 'Make Me 15'. It is a gorgeous greenish color in 12 ml packing. Its brush is big enough for an even smooth application.

It is highly pigmented product which gives beautiful shiny hue in a single coat. However, for a darker tone, two coats are enough.

It dries very quickly. I applied a single coat and it looked wonderful with a fine polished shimmering covering. The longevity of applied MUR nail polish lasts for 4 days.

Overall, Makeup Revolution London nail polish is a good option for a long-wear enamel and most importantly it is easily available in the market.
